Easter in the Snow

 

Easter at St. Michael's was quite wonderful this year! After a challenging, moving and exhilarating week, with the joy of Palm Sunday leading to times of vigil at the Cross, our service of celebration  on Easter Day was exactly that!

 

A strong sermon; stirring music from our Band; Communion around the Family Table; a full Church - and three inches of snow fell during the service, all to make Easter 2008 a memorable occasion.

 

Here are a few photographs of St. Michael's in the snow, taken by Christine Brown - thanks for carrying your camera with you yesterday, Christine!

 

Firstly, a family gravestone, lovingly tended with fresh daffodils, heads bowed by the snow. Within 24 hours, they were clear, bright and upright again, demonstrating the resilience of nature on a bright Bank Holiday morning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The snowy Church entrance is shown framed by some of the trees in our picturesque churchyard.......

 

 

 

... as just two of the day's 180 worshippers make their way into Church...

 

 

 

... leaving Christine to compose her photographs in peaceful solitude.
