The Letter from the Staff Team
Page 1 of this month's Newsletter
The
kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed… though it is the
smallest of all your seeds, when it grows it becomes the
largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the
birds of the air come and perch in its branches.
So says Jesus in Matthew 13; that was the
theme at stmixkids.com last month; Church Mice have also
been planting seeds; and the church was full of colour when
we held our Plant Sale.
We’re planting seeds of another kind this
month—which we pray will grow into a “tree” where many can
perch, and will indeed be a picture of God’s Kingdom. We are
currently arranging to take a lease on a property in New
Braiswick Park, and advertising for a Christian Community
Development Worker, so that by putting down roots there we
can help lay the foundations of a vibrant community.
There’s also Myland Parish Halls, of course,
where work has now started, though much of the growth in the
early weeks of the project will be below the surface, as we
lay foundations of a more concrete sort!
What was in Jesus’ mind, as he compared the
kingdom of God to a seed? We are surely amazed at the power
of God in nature, transforming the smallest into the
greatest; the humblest into the majestic; the apparently
dormant into the spectacularly productive. God did that to
the small, dormant, humble early Church; he achieves it with
us as individuals and as His Church here in Myland; and
these truths encourage us to know His power to achieve great
things from humble beginnings on New Braiswick Park, too..
So as we thank Jesus for His encouraging
word, please continue to pray that God will guide,
encourage, protect, strengthen and bless all the work we do
together for Him. Pray also that He will feed us and sustain
us spiritually so that our growth is fruitful and beautiful.
And let’s look for signs of growth, as we rejoice in the
promise of God’s coming glorious Kingdom.
Yours in the love
of Jesus,
Ray, John, Colin,
Esther
