You may find the following prayers helpful during these anxious and uncertain times.

O gracious and holy Father
give us wisdom to perceive you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you,
through the power of the Spirit
of Jesus Christ our Lord.

The prayer of St. Benedict.

Loving God, our Comforter and Healer
We pray for all with broken hearts and broken lives;
for those who are ill, injured or in pain,
grieving for a loved one,
or brought low with worry and fear due to current circumstances.

We pray especially for.........

Bless all these people with your healing grace.
Shine the light of your love in their darkness.
Hold them up with your divine strength;
and bring them the gift of hope that comes from knowing you.

Lord of life,
send your Spirit upon those who work in the NHS
and upon those for whom they care.
May those who are sick be enabled
to lift their hearts in thanksgiving,
and may those who care for them be given strength
to pour out the unfailing oil of your healng love.
May your saving power be brought to the world
through the great physician and nurse of our souls, Christ your Son,
in whom alone is eternal life, true peace,
and the fullness of health.

Prayer written by the Bishop of London, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, for the 70th anniversary of the NHS in 2018.
