About the Room

The Community Room is located in Paprika House on Apprentice Drive, CO4 5SE, and is currently the only premises on the development (other than houses and flats) that is available as a venue for community meetings and events. It is managed by a team at St. Michael's Church, Myland.

The Community RoomThe developers of Paprika House, Taylor Wimpey, have generously gifted the room to Colchester Borough Council on a long lease, and the Council have granted an underlease to St. Michael's Church, Myland who have agreed to operate it as a community facility.

As the Room is very close to residential properties, the lease contains restrictions on the times and days when events can take place there. Opening is limited to:

Weekdays: 9am - 8.45pm

Saturdays: 10am to 8pm

Sundays: 10am to 4pm

Use is NOT permitted on Bank or Public Holidays.

The Room measures approximately 6 metres by 6 metres, and has a small kitchen for making drinks, and a disabled toilet.

We are keen to see the Room used by all residents for a wide variety of meetings and events; please look at the Hiring the Room page if you have an idea for a new group/event to meet here.

You'll see that our logo includes a fan - that's because the whole development was formerly the home of Flakt Woods Limited, world-renowned fan manufacturers whose factory is now in Axial Way, near the Weston Homes Community Stadium. It's blue because the room has a blue colour scheme - and the three blades on the fan show our determination to harness three important facets of community - People, Property and Purpose. We invite you to get involved, and look forward to seeing you in the Community Room.
